PROJECT RUTH

Project Ruth, named after the story in the Book of Ruth, is Messiah’s ministry to the homeless. Working together in action and prayer, we provide service and support to our homeless neighbors.
Our busiest time occurs on the 4th Sunday of the month, when we meet at 9:00am to assemble toiletry and hygiene bags, focusing especially on women. At 11:45am, we travel west a few blocks to Civic Center Plaza, where we deliver the bags to homeless men, women and families gathered for lunch provided by area faith and social justice organizations. On Christmas, we assemble and deliver backpacks or shoulder bags of essential items and a small gift.
