WELCOME TO MESSIAH We are a loving, inclusive and active faith community seeking to serve God, follow Christ and change the world. We find strength in the cultural, economic and political diversity of our congregation.

Through the beauty of our Biblical and liturgical traditions we discover relevant meaning for our varied lives as we seek to embrace our most authentic selves.

CHURCH COMMUNITY

SMALL GROUP SOCIALS

ALTAR GUILD Small Group Socials (formerly known as Supper Clubs) are an opportunity for parishioners and newcomers to get together to socialize, have lots of fun, or share a meal. Groups meet either in each others’ homes or elsewhere and participants take turns hosting the group. There is no “agenda” – no readings or lessons. It’s just about meeting new friends and deepening your relationships with people you already know at Messiah.

Registration happens in February or March. After registering your interest in joining a Small Group, there is an organizational potluck in the Parish Hall after the 10:15am service. During the potluck, you will meet the other members of your group and select the date when you would like to plan a gathering. You may choose to host a dinner party or potluck, or plan a lunch or brunch or a theme event (i.e. Halloween or Holiday party). You might organize an old fashioned picnic in the park, attended a show or concert together or go bowling. Gatherings may also be held in the parish hall. It is completely up to the host to select the type of event, the location, the date and the time. The groups are usually 8-12 people, including the host.

HEALTH MINISTRY

SUNDAY LITURGY TEAMS The Body, the Mind, and the Spirit are all intertwined in the human experience. Health Ministries is a program that supports this experience to help parishioners and the community with wholeness, wellness and prevention of disease with education, community service, and promotion of self-care.

Throughout the year there are many formal activities, like blood pressure screenings and Flu shot vaccinations, but there are also many individual consultations for parishioners with unique needs. This ministry provides hospital, rehab and at home visitations. Health ministry sponsor adult educational offerings on a broad variety of subjects, such as Spirituality and Aging; Effective Parenting; Healthy Families (in English and Spanish); CPR Classes; and Grief, Loss and Brokenness. Our nurses also provided education on stroke awareness, healthy lifestyle, diet and exercise.

OFFICE VOLUNTEERS

CHORISTERS Our office volunteers provide much needed staff support and are frequently the first contact our visitors and vendors make in the church office. Volunteers gain a different perspective on what goes on behind the scenes at Messiah and we appreciate their dedication and service. We are always seeking new office volunteers, so please let us know of your interest.

AUCTION MINISTRY

LITURGY AND MUSIC COMMITTEE Our annual auction is a wonderful way Messiah “parties” together and raises money for our ministries and the work of the church. It’s always a beautiful and fun dinner event where parishioners can bring friends who love to “shop” at our famous silent auction boutique! The auction’s success is essential to Messiah’s budget, and we usually raise around $30,000. There are so many ways you can help! We especially need a team of people to work on donation solicitations from various businesses and also need creative people to develop our theme and invitations.
