WORSHIP AND MUSIC

ALTAR GUILD

ALTAR GUILD The primary responsibility of the Altar Guild is setting the altar for each service, including special services such as Holy Week, Christmas, weddings and funerals. They also oversee and care for the items on and around the altar, clean and repair linens and vestments, and order all candles, hosts, wine and any items needed to celebrate the Eucharist. On Shrove Tuesday, the Altar Guild hosts the Pancake Supper, which is always a fun event bringing together present and past members of different generations. The Altar Guild coordinates the decorating of the entire church for the Easter and Christmas seasons.

SUNDAY LITURGY TEAMS

SUNDAY LITURGY TEAMS At Messiah, as many as 31 parishioners are involved in different liturgical roles during three worship services on any given Sunday. Liturgy team members serve as Crucifer, Torches, Readers, Chalice Bearers, Master of Ceremonies, Intercessory Prayer Leaders, Turifer, Ushers and Pew Crew. These dedicated parishioners enhance our worship experience by increasing lay involvement in liturgical roles during services.

ALTAR FLOWERS MINISTRY

CHORISTERS The beautiful flowers you see on the altar each week are possible because of the donations of parishioners. Those who would like to make a donation to provide flowers for a Sunday can call or email Charlene Lord providing information for the dedication. Many people choose to remember an anniversary, or commemorate a loved one or any special day in their family. Donating flowers is easy to do, and it allows our congregation to enjoy a glorious altar each week.

LITURGY AND MUSIC COMMITTEE

LITURGY AND MUSIC COMMITTEE Worship is a crucial part of our communal life at Messiah. Singing and praying to God invites us to express our personal and corporate theological understandings, while also incorporating our Anglican Christian identity. This ministry meets throughout the year to reflect on the liturgical and musical expressions of our tradition and to incorporate new elements to enhance our spiritual experience through worship.

MESSIAH'S CHOIR

MESSIAH'S CHOIR The Parish Choir is a vital part of the congregation and provides inspiring musical leadership in services of worship throughout the year. This talented group of musicians performs a repertoire from classical to contemporary.

The Parish Choir presents major choral works on All Saints Sunday, Christmas Eve, and Evensong in the spring. Rehearsals are on Thursday nights, September through June, from 7:30-9:00 pm in the Parish Hall. New members are welcome to join throughout the year.

The coro combines with the English choir in seasonal services of worship and festive bilingual services. The Coro Nuevo Amanecer rehearses Sunday mornings at 11:30 am in the Choir Room. New members are welcome to join throughout the year.

CHORISTERS (RSCM)

CHORISTERS Children and youth from first grade through High School are welcome to join The Choristers. The Choristers sing on specially appointed Sundays at both the 10:15am and 12:00pm services. They meet weekly to rehearse and develop musical literacy. During the “book-work” section of their meeting, Choristers study a curriculum focused on music and choral technique. This session is followed by rehearsal in which the Choristers practice what they learned. Rehearsal is followed by a family dinner with the Choristers and their parents, a crucial time of fellowship and community building.
