Men Seeking God
Men Seeking God, the men’s spirituality group at the Episcopal Church of the Messiah, meets the third Tuesday evening of each month at a member’s home for pot-luck, socializing, and a discussion based on a previously distributed reading. All men are welcome: Messiah members, friends, and other men outside our parish. The readings vary, including contemporary issues, classical spirituality, and Bible study. We frequently concentrate on finding God in the world, especially through adapting the Ignatian tradition to lay people’s lives. We also have a tradition of a yearly men’s retreat.
The membership of the group is diverse. We welcome committed believers and confirmed skeptics, those with long-term prayer lives and those without a clue how to start. What we all have in common is a felt longing to deepen our spiritual lives. This year we have been happy to welcome new men with diverse backgrounds, as well as visits from members we hadn’t seen in a while.
